13 years after its release, the classic game Terraria has sold more than 58 million copies in its lifetime
Terraria sales break 58 million, sequel to be built with new engine
After 13 years of development, Terraria, the fan-loved pixel survival adventure game, has reached a new milestone. According to the latest "game status" post published on the official forum, the game has sold more than 58 million copies.
The specific sales volume is 58.70 million, of which the PC platform contributed about 32 million sales.
Of the achievement, developer Re-Logic said: "Once again, I am incredibly honoured and grateful for your continued support - what drives us to create even more amazing Terraria experiences every day." Meanwhile, the developer also hinted that there may be some surprises when sales reach 60 million, saying "I don't know what to expect..."
If Terraria reaches 60 million sales, it will be a major milestone, allowing it to surpass hits like Overwatch, The Witcher 3, and Animal Crossing.
Previously, Re-Logic has announced plans to develop "Terraria 2" and said that it will use the new engine for development. But other than that, there is no more news yet.
